LSU has many outposts in Baton Rouge including the LSU has many outposts in Baton Rouge including the Rural Life Museum and Windrush Gardens. There's a large indoor museum with musical instruments, farm equipment and other historical gems. Outdoors the 25 acre area has original and reconstructed buildings dating back to the 18th century. That was my favorite place to explore.
Most of the buildings are made of native cypress, a naturally insect and water resistant wood that doesn't need to be painted. The barns, cabins and houses were mostly built around 1850 and some were in use for decades. The College Grove Baptist Church c. 1870 held services until 1960. Some had multiple lives as waystations, school houses and barns as the years went by. There's also an extensive research garden. It's easily a half day to see it all
Good morning Mike, the 7th tiger to live at LSU! Good morning Mike, the 7th tiger to live at LSU!
We visited Louisiana State University, the only campus with a Siberian/Bengal rescue tiger living on site in his own lush habitat.
LSU is known as the loudest stadium in the country. In 1988, cheers from the crowd of 102,000 created an earthquake reading on the LSU seismograph. And the stadium been expanded since then. There's a 1500 seat rooftop beer garden and the tailgate parties are a sight to behold
Loved the "tree" sculpture in front of Mestizo in Loved the "tree" sculpture in front of Mestizo in Baton Rouge and the bead throws you'll find in the trees during Mardi Gras, but made of steel. Jim Urdiales has been mixing up Mexican and Cajun French styles for over 20 years at his restaurant and he was on duty at the grill the night we were there. The Betty White margarita with hibiscus was delicious. So was the Pacifico, skirt steak taco with a shrimp and crab chili relleno. Welcome to Baton Rouge!

Wine connoisseurs alert! The Post Hotel has won th Wine connoisseurs alert! The Post Hotel has won the Wine Spectator Grand Award ever year since 2003, one if only 80 such winners in the world, and one of only 5 in Canada. The cellar holds over 25,000 bottles, still curated by the original owner, and overseen by sommelier Misun Bu. The four course table d'hote menu that changes daily features Canadian game and seafood by Executive Chef Hans Sauter. Savour exquisite pairings by candlelight, surrounded by fresh cut flowers
The outdoor cabins beside the river at Post Hotel The outdoor cabins beside the river at Post Hotel & Spa range from romantic one bedrooms to a cabin that sleeps 10. Some interior suites retain the original log walls. This was the centre of Lake Louise village in the 1930s where the Post Office and general store once stood
